Zamami Island is in the Kerama Islands, about 40km from Naha.
It’s a wonderful place that attracts many tourists from all over the world, who come to see the crystal clear, beautiful Kerama blue ocean!
What is Zamami Island? Where is it?
Zamami Island is part of the Kerama Islands in Okinawa Prefecture.
You can get to Zamami by ferry (Ferry Zamami) or high-speed boat (Queen Zamami) from Tomarin in Tomari Port in Naha City!
Please note that the timetable, fare, travel time, and boarding point are different for each ferry. Reservations for boarding are also required.
It depends on the weather, but the ferry rocked more than expected, so if you are worried about seasickness, I recommend taking some medicine to prevent seasickness. By the way, I use this medicine!
The popular Furuzamami Beach
This is Zamami’s main beach, Furuzamami Beach!
This beach has been awarded two stars in the Michelin Green Guide Japan, so it’s a Michelin-approved beach.
There are so many tourists from overseas that you might mistake this for an overseas beach. You can also experience the overseas atmosphere, so it’s a two-for-one deal.
The gradation from deep blue to emerald green is beautiful.
It’s a spectacular view that you’ll want to stare at forever!

Kami-no-Hama Observatory
Kaminohama Observatory offers a panoramic view of Ama Beach.
The Kerama Blue ocean is beautiful to see up close, but the ocean from the heights is also spectacular!!!
What’s more, Kaminohama Observatory was renovated in 2020 and is now equipped with chairs and tables, so you can enjoy lunch or read a book while taking in the spectacular view! It’s great to be able to relax while enjoying the spectacular view.
Unaji-no-Sachi Observatory
Onosenosaki Observatory is located in the west of Zamami Island.
The weather was fine that day, and we were able to see Kumejima beyond the sea!
You can see a spectacular view that is different from the beautiful gradation of the Kerama blue sea.
Chishi Observatory
Chishi Observatory on the cliffs at the northernmost tip of Zamami Island
The contrast between the blue of the sea and the green of the hills was amazing!
You can see a slightly different view from Furuzamami Beach.
The Kerama Blue ocean is beautiful, but if you want to see the green hills as well, we recommend Chishi Observatory!
