In conclusion, at Kai Alps, we were able to have wonderful meals using seasonal ingredients from Shinshu and create wonderful memories!

Restaurant building of KAI ALPS

First, move from the guest room building to the dining hall building.
Since it is not a large facility, it takes only a few minutes to move from the guest room building to the dining hall building.


The dining room is semi-private, so you can enjoy your meal at your leisure without worrying about your surroundings.
Each room is attended by a designated Hoshino Resort staff member, which gives you a sense of security. I rarely saw other guests.

Upon entering the semi-private room, a menu was prepared on the table.
Looking at the menu, I began to imagine what kind of food would be served!

First up was the wasabi!
We were told that it tastes even better when eaten with food, so we waited for the food to arrive while grating the wasabi. My first experience of grating wasabi.
This wasabi was really delicious! It is a refined wasabi with almost no peculiar nasal twang.
This kind of little touch is one of the best things about Hoshino Resort, isn’t it?
Appetizer : Roast beef and Shinshu salmon Naruto

The first item is an artistic one. It is said to be a first dish inspired by a cool wasabi plantation.
The combination of roast beef and salmon is nothing short of delicious! The dishware is stylish and too nice.
Simmered soup : Quail and yam

The second dish is an elegant dish. It is a dish that cannot be made at home.
Houraku platter : Appetizer, vinegared dish, and sashimi

The third item is a gorgeous assortment of dishes. I was so excited to see which one I would start with…
Lidded dish : Steamed steamed rice with a balloon

The next dish was another elegant one. It was filled with shrimp, edamame (green soybeans), and azuki beans, and was very elegantly seasoned.
The taste is enhanced when eaten with grated wasabi (Japanese horseradish).
Small pot : Wagyu beef and nozawana with Yoshino

Next was the meat dish. The combination of wagyu beef and nozawana was good!
I drank a lot of beer and sake, so I was full at this point.
Meal : Rice cooked in an earthenware pot with mushrooms, topped with soup and vegetables

Earthen pot rice is cooked right in front of you. The amount of rice is quite large, so you will be full….
You can also take the leftover rice home and eat it as an evening meal.
It is a very nice gesture to be able to take the rice home with you.
Sweet : Kai-Alps special apple sherbet with honey and wasabi

The final dish was a special apple sorbet made by Kai Alps, scented with honey and wasabi (Japanese horseradish).
This refreshing sherbet was the perfect dessert to end the meal.
Breakfast at Alps
Breakfast is also served in the same dining building as in the evening.


The dining rooms are semi-private rooms, which is a great place to eat without worrying about people’s eyes on you, even if you are in a state of sopping & waking up in the morning!
All rooms are semi-private, so everyone can eat in a semi-private room.

As I thought at dinner, many of the dishes are stylishly named, which raises expectations.

Breakfast is brought to you at once! The variety is ideal for a handsome breakfast.
I wish I could make breakfast like this every day…but, well, it’s difficult.

Delicious and filling! It was a healthy and ideal breakfast.

All meals at Kai Alps were just delicious!
The dining room was semi-private, so we could eat without worrying about other guests, and the staff served our meals at a pace that made us feel comfortable.
I think the meals were appropriate for Kai Alps, whose concept is to “experience the luxurious countryside of Shinshu.
