10 items to bring on board!Must-see for first-time overseas travelers and long-distance flight travelers!

Long-distance flights are unavoidable when traveling to a country far from Japan.

Especially if it’s your first long-distance flight, you’re likely to be full of anxiety and wondering, “What should I bring?”

Traveling abroad is fun, but long-distance flights, where you have to spend a long time in a small space, can be more tiring than you’d think. However, just having a few items with you can greatly increase your comfort on the plane.

In this article, based on the author’s experience of traveling to nearly 20 countries around the world, I will introduce 10 recommended items that will make long-distance flights more comfortable.

I hope this article will be of some help to those who are planning to fly in the future ♪

10 useful items to have on the plane!

The importance of certain items varies from person to person, but I’ll present my ranking of the items I personally consider most important!

I’m sure there are many different opinions, but I hope you’ll use this as a reference♪

I’ve introduced some useful items for overseas travel in this article, so if you’re interested, please take a look!

No.1 : Compression socks

First of all, one of the items that is absolutely essential for long-distance flights is compression socks!

Long-distance flights that require you to sit down are tougher than you might think. Even after you arrive at your destination, if your legs are swollen, you will feel tired, so it is essential to take measures to prevent swelling.

Women in particular tend to be more prone to swelling because they have less muscle mass than men, so care is essential.

Compression socks are a great item for this purpose. If you are prone to swelling, we recommend bringing them with you!

We also recommend these pajama leggings from Belmis! They’re fluffy, so they’re great for preventing coldness.

I often wear pajama leggings under a loose-fitting dress.

No.2 : Hot eye mask

Next up are eye care items.

Hot eye masks soothe tired eyes and have a relaxing effect, making your flight much more comfortable! My favorite item is the steam hot eye mask series.

It’s also great that you can choose your favorite scent♪

Disposable types that warm up are convenient because they don’t take up much space and don’t take up much space in your luggage.

No.3 : Nodo Nuru Wet Mask

To protect your throat from the dry air inside the cabin, you need to take measures against dryness!

The item I especially recommend is the Nodo Nuru Nuru Mask.

It has a moisturizing effect and prevents your throat from drying out even on long flights.

Until now, I’ve been using a regular mask, but the Nodo Nuru Nuru Mask has a higher moisturizing effect, which is good.

It’s a little expensive, but it’s important to take care of your throat so it doesn’t get sore from dryness.

No. 4 : Moisturizing items

It’s important to take measures against dryness of the skin as well as dry throat.

We recommend Dalva’s oil mist, also known as “CA Mist.” It became famous after being a favorite item of Korean CAs on board.

Not only does it moisturize the skin, but it also has a nice, relaxing scent, making it perfect for moisturizing care during a flight.

It’s exactly 100ml, so it’s a great point that you can take it on board without having to refill it. Take it on board to prevent dryness!

No.5 : Mobile battery

Charging your smartphone while traveling is essential, so a portable battery is an essential item.

Especially when you’re overseas, you can’t just charge your phone whenever and wherever you want, so it’s reassuring to have a portable battery with you!!!

However, be careful, as there are restrictions on carrying it on board according to aviation laws and the rules of each airline!

We recommend that you check whether it is possible to bring it on the plane before purchasing it.

No.6 : Bluetooth earphones

If you are worried about the sounds around you, but earplugs are too quiet for you to sleep, then noise-canceling Bluetooth earphones are the perfect item. They can also be used as earplugs, so they’re great for that.

Bluetooth earphones eliminate the hassle of wires and are convenient for enjoying in-flight entertainment and music and videos on your smartphone. The hassle of wires on a small plane is more troublesome than you might think.

If you choose something that is lightweight and has a long battery life, you’ll be more comfortable on your trip!

No.7 : Oral care items

You want to brush your teeth before going to bed.

However, the water in airplane toilets is not necessarily clean, so we don’t recommend drinking it. Also, if the flight is nearly full, you might feel a bit uncomfortable monopolizing the toilet for an extended period of time.

Toothpaste sheets are a great item for this. Another benefit is that you don’t need to rinse with water after use!!

In addition to toothpaste, I also recommend bringing gum, Mintia, Frisks, and other items to keep your mouth fresh. These will come in handy on many long-distance flights.

No.8 : Indoor slippers

To make your flight more comfortable, it’s useful to have slippers that are easy to put on and take off!

If you keep your shoes on for a long time, your feet will easily swell, but wearing slippers will help you relax.

On long-distance flights, you’ll often have to go to the restroom, and it can be a bit of a pain to take your shoes off and put them back on every time.

I personally recommend disposable slippers. The cabin can get pretty dirty, so one of the benefits is that you can just throw them away after you’re done using them!!

Or, if you want to use them not only on the plane but also in the hotel, folding slippers are also good. These compact slippers can be folded in two and won’t get in the way of your luggage.

No.9 : Eco-bag

Having an eco bag is very handy!

Not only is it useful for small purchases when traveling or at the airport, but it can also be folded up and carried around, so it doesn’t take up much space.

The ultra-compact Shupatto eco bag fits in the palm of your hand, so it won’t take up much space in your bag or pocket, and your luggage will be kept to a minimum.

It’s the perfect item for those who prefer mini bags and want to stay light on the move.

No.10 : Neck Pillow

Well, the last item on this very personal ranking is a neck pillow!

Many of you may be wondering why it’s 10th place?! But to be honest, it’s not a very important item for me, because I can sleep with or without a neck pillow and it’s just a burden.

I hope to find a great neck pillow someday. Pump-type neck pillows are also hygienic.

Dress code

Finally, here’s what to wear on the plane!

It’s recommended to wear clothes that are comfortable on the plane. It’s best to avoid tight-fitting clothes as much as possible.

Also, it’s colder inside the plane than you might think, so we recommend bringing a jacket. You can borrow blankets, but they may not be given to you right away, so it’s reassuring to have your own jacket.

It can be folded compactly, making it easy to carry around. It will come in handy in many situations, so we recommend having one!
